Author Bio

So, my ingenious co-author thinks it would be a good idea for each of us to write the other person's author bio for our book jacket, suggesting it would be a great way for the readers to gain insight into our true personalities. Now, while I agree with the concept, it would definitely offer insight, I am still trying to figure out... Is that really a good thing? LMAO

Collaboration equals cooperation

So, as an only child, I was never properly taught how to share. Not that this is news to anyone who knows me. To top it off, I am a classic Type A personality, a little on the dominant side. Okay, maybe more than a little....
Anyway, I am currently in the beginning stages of an attempt to work with another author. An author from a different genre all together. Different, as in my polar opposite. I write contemporary erotic romance. He... YES, he... writes YA fantasy with a paranormal bent. The only place we cross paths is in the paranormal.
After one conversation, he had some weird thought that we would make a good team. Me, in my infinite wisdom, had a good 'vibe' and thought this would be a great idea!
So, both of us, being the voices of practicality that we are, decided to dive right in... Literally. In a couple hours I had an introduction. An hour later he had a scene to add to it... And so it began.
Now, since we had in no way discussed where we thought this should go, we went into our, now very obviously different, directions. LOL.
Needless to say, several hours, much discussion, some random topic changes, and a little more detail later, we are at least writing the same book.
If we can make this work, with the opposite views, the opposite sexes, and the totally different genres, it should end up being one hell of a story.
Either that, or we'll kill each other!

WHY???

Since nothing that I want to pursue as a career requires, or even uses a Bachelors degree, I am sitting here wondering why the hell I am back in school. I am currently taking a Government class. I hated social studies in elementary school, in high school, and I still hate it now. I will not ever be involved in a career that puts me into the middle of politics, so there is really NO purpose for me taking this course except to meet some randomly designed curriculum. Please, someone explain to me how a degree in Complementary and Alternative Health needs a prerequisite of Government??? Oh yeah, and WHY am I back in school?

INTRO to my WIP - A teaser. 18 and over!!!

Introduction
He looked down at her, taking a moment to admire the view before him. Long black hair fanned out around her head. The red satin blindfold standing in stark contrast to her pale skin, only to be offset by the matching red of her lips. Her mouth was slightly agape, waiting for his next kiss, his next touch.
Her hands and feet were bound with black fur cuffs, keeping her trapped in the spread eagle position, open to his view, ready to answer his every desire. Or so he could answer hers. He ran a gentle caress up her side, keeping his touch feather light. He saw the goose bumps rise all across her body, her nipples tightening once again into little pebbles, their color as red and rosy as her lips.
She wasn't too skinny. Instead her lush body was curved in all the right places, offering softness to his hard planes. Supple, giving, her body drove him to madness. He looked lower, seeing the moisture pooling between her thighs, a clear signal that she was more than ready to receive him. He smiled, teasing her again with a little brush here, a touch there. He had kept her on the brink of orgasm for over hours, teasing her, bringing her right to the edge, then stopping.
As he climbed up onto the bed, it shifted below her, causing her to gasp and wiggle her hips in anticipation. But this was his show, he was in control.
"Be patient, love. I'm not quite done with you yet."
A little whimper escaped her lips, bringing another smile to his.
He leaned forward, placing a kiss on her belly, and another a little lower, stopping to dip his tongue into her belly button. When she moaned softly, he bit down gently on her stomach, reaching his hand up to gently squeeze her breast. He moved further down, blowing on her mound, causing her hips to lift off the bed, seeking his tongue.
Wanting to startle her, and feeling his own needs beginning to get the better of him, he pulled his mouth back, roughly thrusting one finger into her core. She cried out, trying to twist her hips, bring him deeper.
            "Please," she begged.
            "Please what?"
"Please... let me come... I need to come."
"I know you do... and you will. Soon."
She groaned, twisting and writhing against the sheets. Watching her, his shaft pulsed, releasing another drop from the already wet tip. He wasn't going to be able to hold out much longer. He thrust his finger deeper, again and again, feeling her wet heat contract around his hand.
Finally unable to withstand it anymore, he sat down onto his knees, lifting her hips and lining his cock up with her dripping entrance. He had wanted to spank her, to see her ass red from his hand. He'd wanted to taste her again.... now it was too late. He had to take her, hard and fast.
He brushed the tip of his throbbing shaft against her wet slit, sliding up and down, brushing past her clit as she twisted against him. With one hard thrust he pushed inside her, burying himself to the hilt.
At the feel of her wet heat surrounding him, he grit his teeth struggling not to come immediately. He raised one hand, pinching her nipple between his finger tips. She cried out, her sheath pulsing around him. As he felt her body tightening, on the precipice of the release he'd thus far denied her, he couldn't stop from thrusting into her. Again and again... harder, faster.
The need to fuck her until she screamed overtook him and he gripped her hips, lifting them so he could drive into her with all his strength. When he felt her start to milk his shaft, her head thrown back as a scream tore from her throat, he couldn't stop his own release. He thrust once, then twice more, his seed shooting from him in hot bursts as he threw his head back and roared out his pleasure.
* * * *
His eyes tore open, his hips still grinding against his cotton pajama bottoms as hot jets streamed from his body, release bringing enough pleasure to have him gritting his teeth.
As his breathing began to steady out he realized that his dreams were getting more and more real, this time pushing him all the way over the edge. Usually he just woke up hard as stone, but this time he had actually come, simply from a dream.
He rubbed his hand across his face, shoving it through his hair as he took another deep, steadying breath. He looked over at the sleeping woman next to him. He saw her silky blond hair, her soft pink lips with her mouth open slightly in sleep. He wondered how she'd slept through all his noise, then just decided to be grateful she had. He gently slipped out of bed and tiptoed to the bathroom to clean up.
As he washed his face, he looked in the mirror silently willing himself to forget those fantasies. They could never be a reality. That just wasn't in the cards for him.
It was only as he turned to head back to bed that he realized the woman in the dream had raven black hair, not blond.
"Ah, fuck me," he mumbled under his breath before sneaking back into bed beside his fiancée.

Welcome Home.... Maybe?

Something that I have often been asked is how I handle my husband being deployed. Essentially, regardless of the way it's worded, most wives cannot imagine a life with their spouse deployed for 6 months, 9 months, sometimes even a year or more. It is simply something beyond their comprehension. Even the wives who have dealt with smaller underway's are often shocked by the difference between 2 months and 6 months. A deployment of only a couple months is really just long enough to miss your spouse without being long enough to truly adjust to them being gone.
People are often surprised by my answer... I readily tell them that it is not the deployment that is most difficult, but rather the homecoming. When they are done asking me if I hate my husband.... I explain. The first couple of weeks when he leaves are very hard, both for me and the kids. The last couple weeks while you are anticipating their return is hard. However, the months in the middle are simply... Life. In some ways it is easier on your own, at least in my experience. While I miss him, miss his company and his humor... and yes, the sex, having one less person in the house is also somewhat easier. You don't have to worry about their schedule, will they be home for dinner, are they able to pick up the kids from practice, etc. You just KNOW you're on your own. You never have to schedule an outing around their duty days. And, in all honesty there is one less temperament you have to be concerned with. Life is a little slower paced for us when daddy is gone.
Now, this is not to say we are not happy to have him home. It doesn't mean we don't love him, it doesn't mean we don't want him as part of the family, and it doesn't mean we don't miss him terribly. It just means it is easier.
The he comes home... And you get a week of the honeymoon period. The kids can do no wrong, the husband is always in a terrific mood, dinner is perfect, everything is roses...
And after a week, it all changes again. Your spouse, or at least my spouse, becomes cranky with the children since he hasn't had to deal with them for months. He feels angry and pushed aside that we have continued to live our lives while he was away. He expects everything to be as it was when he left, and that is just not possible. I get tired of having to work around another adult when I have been completely autonomous for months. The kids don't love having ANOTHER adult telling them what they can and cannot do. And, as a couple, you need to rediscover each other. So, there is another adjustment period, a time where we all have to relearn to live together, to establish new roles, to find a new balance.
All in all, while being without your husband is difficult, it has always been the homecoming that we all struggle with. I'm sure, though we may be loathe to admit it, I cannot be alone in this.

Hello Military wives....

So, to get things started...
I am a Navy wife, married to a military man for thirteen years. I have done, 4 full deployments, and MANY MANY smaller underways.
Are there any NEW military wives who are either facing a deployment or in the middle of their first deployment?

Deployments...

I am a Navy wife of thirteen years. Actually married for fifteen, but thirteen in the Navy. I have been through many deployments, underways, separations, etc. I want to chat about deployments and whether you guys think they are easier or harder than having the hubby's home, and in what ways. Join me here on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm, PST. California time... So, please make sure to adjust for your location.

Thanks,
Peace!

Are you ready for some Football??

Sitting around, munching popcorn, watching football with my hubby and kids... This is what Sunday is for.
Now, if only we could get some fall weather to go with it!

Let's talk about sex.... scenes!

So, let's talk about sex... or rather sex scenes.
When people who know me personally read one of my books, it often causes a little bit of blushing the next time I see them... when they realize that the sex scenes I've written have actually come out of my imagination... Not that I've ever been particularly shy about what I think.
The conversation often follows, that they would think writing the love scenes would be the most difficult part of a romance. Now, before I tell you what I think of that, I'd like to hear from readers as well as other authors... What makes a GOOD sex scene, and is writing one difficult?
Let me know

Hello All,
Happy Thursday... So, as we get closer to the end of another crazy week, we have more drama in my house... nothing unusual. My son is sick, my daughter is cranky, thus I am not writing, which in turn makes ME cranky... And so goes the cycle. I must remind myself that tomorrow is another day, and in the meantime, there is always WINE! Lol

Woohoo Football

So, even though it was over 100 degrees in our area today, my son's PeeWee football team, 11, 12 and 13 year old boys won their first game of this season, 13 to 0.... Way to go boys! Especially in this weather. And by the way... Is summer EVER going to end this year. I am soooo over it!

Let's go happily ever after....

Okay, so I am finally back into 'writing' mode. After a rough return to a book I started months ago, before football and school, I have finally found my stride again and the writing is flowing well... So... woohoo for Josh and Gia. They may get their happy ending after all!

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL???

Happy Monday... I mean Wednesday

So, this week has been weird, right from the get go. Since Monday was a holiday, Tuesday was actually Monday, and I somehow lost that entire day. So, while everyone else seems to think its Wednesday, I am still two days behind. Therefore, I am not late for anything... just horribly confused! Oh well.... eventually it will be Friday... then I get to start over!

Lovin' the long weekend

Friday night was awesome! My best friend in the world is down visiting me, neighbors and friends hung out under the blue moon, drinking wine, listening to music and going in the spa. A perfect beginning to the weekend!

Rain Rain...

Most people I know gripe and complain when it rains. Me, I have been waiting all summer for a good thunder storm. We spent a few years in Illinois when my hubby was stationed back there, and believe it or not I grew fond of the erratic summer weather. So, as we finally have our first good storm here in sunny SoCal, I want nothing more than to curl up with some hot tea and watch the weather rage. Now, if only they would cancel football practice????

Return to Hell.... I'm sorry, School!

So, as I sit here watching my poor daughter flip and flop on the sofa, trying in vain to fight off the fever that is plaguing her, I wonder if I am the only mother in the world that does NOT like the return to school! My kids have been back in school for two weeks. So far my son has missed two days and my daughter three. All from this wonderful virus that they brought home from the delightful petri dish that is a public school classroom. So, while many parents are glad to see the return of peace and quiet, I much prefer the noise and chaos that is summer... sleeping in, days at the pool, late nights and movies in the park. Tomorrow morning as my alarm screams 'WAKE UP', I will roll out of bed, drag myself into the kitchen, pour a cup of coffee and join my children in wishing for the return of summer. Or at least winter break!

Let the Games Begin!!

WooooHooooo! Weigh Ins are finally over for my son's football team! All but two passed and we can reweigh them on September 5th. For any of you who have ever played or had a kid that played football, you know the pressure put on these kids to make weight. When we were done, all of the boys went and got a cheeseburger! LOL. And now, LIFE can begin again. We can go back to gymnastics, start our actual season, have more time for family, and generally breathe easier. SOOOOO EXCITED!! So now, one paper to finish by tomorrow and two books to write! Sigh... Let the games begin!

Friday - FINALLY!!

So, like most women, I wear MANY different hats; Wife, Mother, Student, Football AD, and Author. Oh, not to mention, taxi driver, housekeeper, personal shopper, laundry washer, pet groomer, carpet shampooer, house painter, etc. etc. etc.
So, today many of my 'hats' are all colliding into one giant mish mosh of OMG will this day ever end. And, it is only 9 AM. Even as I sit here, writing this post, my cell phone has blinged five times with new texts and I have three new emails! LOL. So, while I am getting everything ready for our teams Weigh Ins tomorrow morning at 6AM, I am also writing a paper for Cultural Anthropology, sending emails, sending texts, answering phone calls, and trying to work on my newest book... Actually, books. I have two in progress right now. There is a piece of me wondering WHY I choose to do all this, but the truth is I love my life. Even on crazy, chaotic, OMG Finally Friday's!
Now, if only I could sneak in a shower! LOL
